Props

The following is the list of props and an explanation as to why we need them in our film:

Two different cars: one for the opening scene and one for the 'dancing' scene.

Ceramic pot for indoor plants: For when Eve throws it at her hallucination; we'll use a small (read: cheap) pot.

Metal cooking pan: will only be seen briefly if at all; used to signify that someone else is in the house with an Off screen sound.

Rucksack: to emphasise the journey that Eve is going on.

Toy tape recorder/cassette recorder (doesn't have to work as it'll be using Foley sound): This'll be used to draw Eve upstairs.EDIT: Now changed to a guitar: still used for the same purpose.

Guitar: See above: Used to draw Eve upstairs to investigate the sound; we'll also see Luke (the father) holding the guitar in the dream sequence.

Each prop is used to signify a meaning in the film: the car shows the journey, and as they are out of fuel it's semantic to a thriller where the world has collapsed- keeping Steve Neal's theory of repetition. Additionally, the use of the cars is used to introduce the equilibrium and also the disruption.
We've decided to shy away from stereotypical thriller props such as weapons (knives, guns etc.) instead focusing on the thrill that comes when you're travelling unarmed in a world that seems very dangerous- yet empty.
